Freinsheim Rotweinwanderung

This weekend we went to Freinsheim for their Rotweinwanderung. We were invited by one of Jeremy's co-workers who lives in Freinsheim. Basically you walk(wander) through the vineyards and stop off every 500 meters or so at one of the local Weingut stands. Twelve stands in all for about a 6-7 km walk (and thats not including the walking we did from where we parked to the Rathaus in the city center (our meeting point) and from there into the vineyards!) At each stop you can purchase different local wines or a variety of Palentine(region) foods. It was quite festive - and even though it was snowing and a bit cold, this didn't keep the people from coming out!

Walking along - Silas had it the best riding in the backpack - but it didn't keep him from getting cold hands (which were out of his gloves so he could suck on his fingers when he was trying to take a little nap - yes I know we need to break him of that habit!) and a rosey little nose! He however had the cleanest shoes and pants of us all. It was just a bit muddy - due to the wet snow falling.

At one of the stops we warmed up by a fire....the kids enjoying their Traubensaft...and I believe Shaylee is catching snowflakes on her tongue!

The family - posing along the way in the vineyards....and Jer with his Fleischkase....YUM!

Shaylee found a stick and carried it along with us - then she added a small tad of snow and it looked like a marshmellow - before long she added more snow, it was like a giant lollipop. While we were waiting for Jer to take Silas potty - she decided to make a snowgirl on a stick. She had a little help from Dorothy's husband...they were buds by the end of the day!

Syd and Shaylee enjoying their Kinderpunch - Syd and Shane smiling for the camera!
