Day to Day Stuff

Things are starting to get back to somewhat of a "normal" around here again after our Spring Break travels and having my friend Ellen here. It's been about a week since I posted - and so I decided it was time for a post of the day to day stuff that goes on here.

Today - Tuesday, April 28, 2009 - Shaylee wanted to have a little tea party with Silas. I had just made some muffins - and so they had muffins and spritz cookies with their applejuice. Shaylee did the pouring and Silas enjoyed being able to drink by himself!



Silas loves shoes lately - or has for some time actually. He will put on everyone elses shoes and try to walk around. In this picture he is sporting Shaylee's crocs...for days he would come home, kick off his own shoes and go find her crocs and put them on. It was just too cute. I did finally buy him a pair of his own crocs...but he hasn't worn them yet...


I caught Silas by my computer the other day - he thought he was so cool typing away. Must have been trying to send a message to grandma or something! He had even climbed up on the stool all by himself. What a stinker!

Evening fun....

The kids were ready for bed one evening - and since it has been so nice out here - Jer read Happy Hollisters outside. The kids lined up the padio chairs and all sat down to listen. Silas was too cute trying to be just like the big kids...I just had to run and get the camera and get a few pictures.

More Sights of Paris

This is my last post on Paris - here are some more photos of some of the other sights we saw.

The Metro - you had to put a little ticket into this gate machine in order for the gate to open. When it worked - it was great - when it didn't work - it was very frustrating! Let's just say for some reason our tickets didn't work all the time. One of us would get through - then we'd have to wait while the others tried and retried. We finally figured out that we think if we kept our ticket too close to another electronic device (cell phone, i-pod) that it wouldn't work. Jer ended up exchanging his ticket at one point, and by our last metro ride all 3 of us got through on the first try! Otherwise the Metro was very efficient!

Jer and Kimber - and the Eiffel Tower

Obelisk of Luxor -was moved to Paris from Egypt in the 1830's....that was no easy task....what kings didn't do to show off their power... And Jer in the Orsay Museum....it was great to enjoy the museums in Paris - although by the end of our visit our feet/legs were very sore from walking, standing, and climbing stairs...time to put the feet up for awhile!

Boarding our ICE train to head back home....and the speed 319 kilometers per hour! That's fast if you ask me! Taking the train was a great way to travel!

Notre Dame

Friday afternoon (April 17, 2009) we went to the Notre Dame Cathedral. We climbed the 400 steps to the top to get an amazing view over the city of Paris. It was a beautiful day - we could see for miles....Paris just keeps going and going. We could pick out all the other famous sites around the city - Arc de Triumph, Sacre Coeur, Eiffel Tower, The Louvre - just to name a few.

The Eiffel Tower

For those of you who were wondering if all we did was go to the Louvre - here is the post containing the proof that we went to the Eiffel Tower. We went Friday night - WOW!
