Driving through France

Friday - October 3, 2008. Today is a holiday in Germany (Reunification Day) which meant that Jer had off work and the kids had off school so this would equal a long weekend and a good excuse to travel a bit farther away. So Normandy, France here we come! Side note: our good friend Joni Byker is also visiting. She is on her way back to the US from Africa. She got off the plane just yesterday (welcome to Germany/Europe Joni!)

France has a lot of toll stops on their roads...we went through 18 (9 on the way there and 9 on the way back) for a total of around 70 Euro in tolls!!!!! We also spent 2 hours in traffic in Paris. However we did get a glimpse of the Eifel Tower, but I'm not sure it was worth it. The third picture is from inside a tunnel in Paris. We are in the far left lane, as we emerged from the tunnel we realized we needed to exit right - and had to get through 3 lanes of traffic in a matter of 100 meters....we almost hit a motorcyclist (they can ride wherever they want -in between lanes) and we almost caused a major accident, got honked at, and surely swore at in French, - but we made it! Needless to say - we don't like Paris very much.
