Longues-sur-Mer Gun Battery

Saturday, October 4, 2008. Heading west from Arromaches our first stop for our D-Day tour was the Longues-sur-Mer Gun Battery. Here are four German bunkers with guns still intact. The guns are arranged in a semicircle and could fire up to a range of 13 miles. One of the bunkers was damaged - but it was amazing how well constructed these concrete bunkers were.


This bunker below was used for observation, right along the cliffs. It directed the firing of the other guns. It had a very strategic view over the English Channel.
