Amsterdam

Sunday - February 15, 2009 We headed into Amsterdam Sunday morning. We were going to take the train into Amsterdam - but after talking with the guy at the front desk of our hotel (he said that usually traffic isn't so bad on Sunday mornings) and figuring the cost of parking would probably be a bit cheaper than tram or train tickets for 8 of us into the city center -we opted to drive in. We found parking - had to take our car on and elevator and park on the roof of a building! The neatest part was we had a great view of Amsterdam from up there! The view - plus parking wasn't too expensive - it was worth it regardless of the cost!

The view of Amsterdam from roof-top parking...

My mom loved the corner markets - especially those selling flowers and bulbs. We headed straight to our canal tour station. Arrived right on time for the canal tour - and off we went. The canal tour is a great way to see much of Amsterdam. It was perfect for the kids too as they were not confined to carseats and seatbelts - nor walking!

Today is Shane's 8th birthday - What a way to celebrate! And some pictures of Amsterdam via the canals...I don't think I can tire of seeing so many row houses - all are unique. Amsterdam is just a neat city.

One of the many bridges over the canals...look closely and you can see more....

In the Amsterdam harbor....

And just in case we didn't already know where we were....its on the boat!

After our canal tour we walked to Dam Square. This guy was playing the bagpipes....Jer loves bagpipe music....it was awesome! Once again we had a great time in Amsterdam.
