Change of Scenery

So here we are - back in Germany - a change in scenery from the lake for sure! It is Saturday afternoon and we realize that we need to get out of the house. We decided to head to the little town of Bad Wimpfen. This is one of those towns that takes you back in time. It is nestled right along the Neckar river and still has part of its original wall and watch towers. It is also filled with half-timbered buildings and narrow streets - giving it that quaint German feel.
Checking out the view of the Neckar. Looking up.

We decided to go up into the tower. Looking down on a great view of the town. One of the quaint half-timbered houses, standing alone - so tall and narrow.

This church was hosting a wedding when we arrived. I do like church spires. Jer and the kids standing in front of a very old stone carved crucifiction scene. A teachable moment!

Stopping off at an Eis Cafe - YUMMY. Silas enjoyed his little perch too.
On the lighter side.....I wish Germany had a few more of these signs posted!
We finished off the day by following the Neckar River back to Heidelberg. Ron and Deb (Jeremy's aunt and uncle) were suppose to be arriving this afternoon. They are staying in Heidelberg, and so we went to their hotel to meet them. They hadn't arrived yet, so we walked around a bit, got something to eat, and checked back again later. By then they had just arrived, so we said hello, met their friends, talked a bit, but then left them to enjoy their evening in Heidelberg. Its always good to see family/friends on this side of the world!
